Lower prostheses not supported by implants remain problematic since they tend to float or lift during operation.

Fortunately, the SEMCD (Suction Effective Mandibular Complete Denture) technique can help.

Created by Dr Jiro Abe in 1999, this revolutionary concept aims to seal all the edges of the mandibular prosthesis to soft tissues such as the oral mucosa, the sublingual tissues and the tongue.

A continuous seal all the way around the mandibular prosthesis allows it to nestle in the soft tissue to create a suction effect that keeps it in place.

This technique is particularly useful for treating patients whose anatomy of the mandibular crest is reached or who cannot afford a treatment with dental implants.
